Every year with the culmination of lent season, Catholics around the world observe the Stations of the Cross. These fourteen stations begin with the condemnation by Pontius Pilate and end with the crucifixion and burial of Jesus.
For many Catholics, this ritual is steeped in reflection, reflection, and humility. It is a time to reconnect with the core values of the Christian faith.
While the ritual is typically observed through images depicting the stations, the Saint Francis Church in Gallup recreates the fourteen scenes with a Spanish and English narration to follow.
Members of the community are invited to participate in the events by joining the processional march from the church to a nearby hill where the mock crucifixion occurs.
